al-Zaidi confirms commitment to payroll exchanges for Kurdish employees and finance sets a funding deadline for next week

Erbil (Kurdistan 24) - The Finance Committee in Council of Representatives held, on Monday 10 August 2026, an extended meeting with Federal Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi, Minister of Finance Falah Sari, and Governor of the Central Bank, to discuss the financial situation and find solutions to the cash liquidity crisis in the country.

The Federal Prime Minister, during the meeting, stressed that the problem of salaries of Kurdish employees has been resolved, emphasizing Baghdad's commitment to send financial receipts to the debtors in the region. The spokesman for the Kurdistan Democratic Party's bloc in Council of Representatives, Daner Abdul Al-Gafar, told Kurdistan24 about al-Zaidi saying: "There is no problem with the issue of salaries of Kurdish employees, and no distinction should be made between them and employees in the rest of the governorates, but they should be equal in rights and financial receipts", noting that the Kurdistan Region shows great cooperation with the federal government for all issues.

In the same context, the member of the Finance Committee, Fidelity Dalimy, revealed that the committee had asked the finance minister about the delay in payments for last July, where the minister explained that the lack of adequate cash liquidity had led to the postponement of payroll to next week.

For his part, al-Zaidi pointed out the continuation of direct coordination with the head of the Kurdistan Regional Government to address the salary file and other financial issues, expressing appreciation for the cooperation of the regional government in reaching radical and comprehensive solutions to these files.
