Erbil (Kurdistan 24) - A meeting, chaired by the Federal Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi, and with the participation of the members of the Finance Committee of Council of Representatives, began in the capital Baghdad, on Monday 10 August 2026, to discuss the payroll of employees in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.

A reporter (Kurdistan 24) in Baghdad reported that the meeting intensively addressed the economic damage caused by Iraq as a result of the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, which was estimated at about $150 billion, noting that the Parliamentary Finance Committee prepared a special report on the obstacles that caused the delay in the disbursement of employee benefits in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.
