al-Zaidi opens fire on corruption: no red lines... and electricity under special care.

Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi raised the ceiling on corruption files, declaring that the next phase will not see any red lines in pursuit of those involved, along with putting the electricity file at the top of government priorities.

During his meeting with the chairman and members of the Parliamentary Finance Committee, in the presence of the Minister of Finance and the Governor of the Central Bank, al-Zaidi confirmed that electricity will receive exceptional attention, while Council of Representatives called for the exercise of its supervisory role and support of the government in the fight against corruption and drying up its springs.

al-Zaidi spoke of a heavy abandonment of files and challenges, stressing that his government is working according to a new vision to address them, in parallel with the preparation of the program budget and performance for the first time, with the aim of linking government spending to results and goals, and increasing the efficiency of the use of public money.

From the slum economy to a new economic Iraq

The Prime Minister outlined a broader state-building project, based on a more diversified economy, less corrupt institutions, and security agencies operating within the constitutional framework, noting the growing interest of global companies and international financial institutions in the Iraq market.

He stressed that the government is working to create an investment environment capable of attracting capital and revitalizing various economic sectors, with a focus on developing oil projects, encouraging industry, expanding non-oil economic activities and creating jobs.
