Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi: No red lines in pursuit of the corrupt and work on building a new economic Iraq

Council of Ministers Chairman Ali Faleh al-Zaidi confirmed, on Monday, that the government is working on preparing a strategy for state-building consisting of building a new economic Iraq, and corruption-free circles, and constitutional security institutions, while stressing that there are no red lines in pursuit of the corrupt.

Council of Ministers President's Information Office stated in a statement that Council of Ministers President Ali Falah al-Zaidi was hosted by the Chairman and members of the Parliamentary Finance Committee, in the presence of the Minister of Finance and the Governor of the Central Bank Iraq, to discuss plans, financial and economic policies, and coordination between the two executive and legislative authorities on priority files.

The Chairman of Council of Ministers stressed, according to the statement, the importance of the role of Council of Representatives and the Finance Committee in supporting the work of the Government and its reform programme, noting the heavy legacy of files and challenges, which are being addressed in a clear vision.

He added that the government had begun, for the first time, to prepare a programme and performance budget, which represents a roadmap for Iraq's economic future, to link government spending with objectives and results and improve the efficiency of the use of public money.

The Prime Minister pointed out that the electricity pipeline will receive exceptional attention, calling on MPs to exercise their control role in supporting the government's efforts to fight corruption and dry its sources, stressing that there are no red lines in the pursuit of the corrupt.

al-Zaidi explained that the government is preparing a state-building strategy consisting of building a new economic Iraq, corruption-free circles, and constitutional security institutions, pointing to the great willingness and acceptance of major global companies to invest in Iraq, and the readiness of global financial institutions to support economically.
