Dhi Qar's governor, Hitham al-Hamadani, on Monday announced a package of measures to restructure the Nasiri Municipality and tighten censorship of corruption files, revealing the cancellation of six previous lectures that saved more than 20 billion dinars to the municipality, and a ban on changing the gender of green land to residential,
Alhamdani said in statements to the official agency Al-Muda that the province has formed an investigative committee to follow up on suspicions of corruption in the municipality, with a view to accountability of employees and officials who prove wrongdoing, and to availing themselves of the competencies of other districts and municipalities.
He added that the administration of the municipality will be done from a lower level with the aim of direct access to the files instead of suspicions, stressing support for the decisions of the judiciary and the Integrity Authority, while calling on citizens and media to report corruption cases.
In the Land File, the Governor announced the adoption of an electronic platform to distribute parcels of land according to slides and window instructions, along with the start of the use of the QR Code system to facilitate the transactions of auditors.
Al-Hamadani stressed the issuance of resolutions prohibiting completely changing the gender of green land to housing within the boundaries of the provincial municipalities, in order to protect recreational areas and public funds.
