The Iraq army is destroying eight more ISIS fighters with air strikes in Kirkuk

The Iraq security media cell announced the destruction of eight ISIS additions, following air strikes that targeted ISIS sites within the Kirkuk disruptor.

The cell said in a statement on Monday (10 August 2026) that the operation was based on intelligence information it described as "accurate and certain" and reported to the Directorate of Military Intelligence about the presence of elements of ISIS within the responsibility of the 11th Division in the leadership of Kirkuk operations.

It added that the operation was carried out in coordination with the Air Force Command, following the target cell in the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, where the sites were surveyed before several air strikes were conducted using SZNA Caravans.

According to the statement, the strikes resulted in the total destruction of eight more, without any revenue being reported on the deaths or injuries among the members of the group, with further details to be announced later.

The operation is part of a series of air strikes by Iraq forces against ISIS cells in the Kirkuk governorate. On 23 May, the Joint Operations Command announced the killing of four members of the organization and further destruction following two airstrikes in the Tea Valley area within the Kirkuk operations disruptor, based on information from military intelligence.

In early July, areas between Kirkuk and Erbil witnessed other strikes targeting sites suspected of being used by ISIS elements, while F-16 Iraq aircraft on July 5 carried out three strikes on Okar and hideouts of the organization in mountainous areas north of Kirkuk, as part of an operation involving Iraqi security services and commandos from the Kurdistan region.
