The Department of Planning is holding a specialized workshop on public service ethics and its role in reducing corruption

The Legal Department of the Ministry of Planning on Sunday, in cooperation with the Federal Integrity Body, held a specialized workshop on the ethics of public office and its role in reducing corruption. (Focus on the ethics of planning), with the aim of raising awareness of the importance of adherence to ethical values and principles in planning work, and consolidating the concepts of integrity, transparency and accountability, thus contributing to reducing practices that violate professional standards and values, and protecting public resources.

The workshop, attended by Prof. Hussain Qassim O'Uhayid of the Federal Integrity Body, addressed the concept of planning ethics, the importance of subjecting the various stages of the planning process to controls and ethical values, from preparing workers for planning practice, to studying the internal and external environment objectively and neutrally, providing data and information and analyzing them according to professional and ethical foundations, to preparing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating plans, programs and policies.

The most prominent ethical and value aspects of planning were also reviewed, including the involvement of relevant parties in the planning process, the balance of the parties' interests, the accuracy and objectivity of objectives, their clarity and measurableness, as well as the clarity of responsibilities and powers, the adoption of publicity and clarity as the basis for accountability, ensuring objectivity and impartiality, and the integration and interconnectedness of plans, programmes and policies.

The workshop touched on the core of the Code of Ethical Conduct for Workers in Planning, as a complement to the organized legal frameworks for work, and its principles and rules of professional conduct, focusing on social responsibility, public interest service, professional integrity, providing correct information, providing opportunity for parties affected by plans to participate in the development of plans and programs, as well as fair treatment of participants in the planning process.

The workshop was attended by Mr. Deputy Director General of the Legal Department, Professor Jihad Mansour, and a number of Department and People's Directors, as well as a number of members of the the Ministry Circles and its formations.
