In line with the Iraq government's orientation towards supporting minorities and ensuring their rights, the Deputy Minister of Planning for Administrative Affairs Dr. Hanae Ismail Al-Assadi, the Supreme President of the Chaldean Church in Iraq and the Patriarchal World Marbulus III Emil Noona visited on Monday, attended by a number of members of the Committees preparing the comprehensive strategy for supporting minorities in Iraq at the headquarters of the BBaghdad Patriarchate.
During the meeting, he discussed the situation of the Christian component in Iraq, the problems and obstacles it faces, and the importance of providing the right environment that ensures its stability and active participation in various fields.
The meeting discussed what was included in the draft comprehensive strategy for supporting minorities in Iraq, focusing on social formation and community awareness, identification of citizenship in addition to preserving all the rights of the components in employment including the Christian component, and legal protections with emphasis on the importance of implementing the strategic provisions according to the specific instruments that make them enforceable.
The Deputy Minister of Planning for Administrative Affairs reaffirmed the government's support for religious and cultural diversity in Iraq, and praised it for its authentic Christian composition, noting the importance of maintaining this diversity as a key cornerstone of Iraq's identity and community fabric.
She added that the formation of the Comprehensive Strategy Preparation Committee for Minority Support in Iraq came within the government's orientation towards achieving justice, equality and transparency by establishing a national framework that promotes the principles of justice, equality and transparency, and ensures the protection of the rights of all components of the Iraq community.
For his part, the Supreme President of the Chaldean Church of Iraq and the world expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the Deputy Minister of Planning and her accompanying delegation for their efforts in preparing this strategy, stressing the importance of continuing the joint efforts in ensuring the rights of minorities, especially as the strategy came about, contributing to stability, and working to serve Iraq and its people with all its components.
