The lifting of the curfew in Kobani after the end of the returnees crisis and the oppressed slaves are calling for restraint

Erbil (Kurdistan24) - The Asayish Internal Security Forces in Aleppo Province announced on Tuesday (11 August 2026) the end of their security operations in Kobani and the lifting of the curfew, following the re-establishment and security of the street following recent tensions.

The security forces explained in an official statement that their intervention came to prevent the aggravation of chaos and protect the lives of citizens, public and private property

According to the Asayesh statement, the tensions erupted after disagreements and protests between families who returned to their homes without prior coordination, and the people who currently reside there, sparked by news that families were preventing returning displaced people from entering their homes.

For his part, the commander-in-chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), Abdul Abadi, condemned the attacks on displaced Kurdish families during their return to Kobani, explaining that their return trip took place in coordination with the Syrian state.

Abdi expressed his understanding of the situation of Kurdish street anger, calling on everyone to adhere to self-control and wisdom, to avoid irresponsible behaviour and to respect security and civilian institutions. He stressed continuing contact with relevant authorities to ensure the protection of returnees and accountability of those responsible for the attacks.
