The Directorate of Martyrs' Affairs in Aleppo opens the registration door for chemical weapons victims and sets Thursday as the last date

Erbil (Kurdistan24) - The Directorate-General for Martyrs' Affairs in the province of Aleppo has announced that new forms for the registration of the names of those injured and affected by the chemical bombing have begun to be submitted, inviting previously applied citizens to review the headquarters of the Directorate to update their data and fill out special forms.

The Directorate has determined next Thursday (13 August 2026) until the end of the official period as the last date for submission of forms and registration drawings, stressing the need to bring the national card and personal attachments to complete transactions.

In a statement to Kurdistan 24, the director-general for martyrs' affairs in Aleppo, Kamran Mustafa, said that the total number of people officially registered as victims of chemical weapons currently stands at about 400 people in the areas of Aleppo, Balisan, Sheikh Wassan, and Siou Senan.

Mustafa pointed out that there is a big difference between the lists and the field scene; more than 1,800 people are currently receiving medical treatment in the Sulaymaniyah and Aleppo governorates, which prompted the administration to update the lists and conduct a comprehensive review to ensure that all the injured are included and no casualties are excluded.

Regarding the administrative path of registration, Mustafa explained that the data is collected in coordination with health institutions and uploaded to the Ministry of Martyrs and Disabled People Affairs, which in turn transfers it to Ministry of Health in the regional government to prove medical cases of injuries, and then the final lists are uploaded to the Kurdistan Regional Council of Ministers for their official approval.
