The Democratic Youth League is demanding government plans to address youth unemployment

IraqI Ali Khyun, Secretary-General of the Democratic Youth Union, said on Tuesday that the youth conference, held in conjunction with World Youth Day, aims to provide a free national platform for young people, empower them to participate in decision-making and know their rights, as well as develop practical mechanisms for preparing policy papers and program projects and uploading them to relevant bodies.

In an interview with MMA, he explained that the economic challenges facing young people are unemployment, low employment, the lack of effective operational plans by the government, the lack of concrete support for projects and the complexities of obtaining funding and support.

He added that corruption and sectarian capitalism are among the biggest challenges, pointing out that they undermine state institutions and cast their shadow on the country's economic reality.

He pointed out that the conference is working on preparing a final report containing legislative recommendations and demands, with the aim of officially submitting them to ministries and ZCouncil of Representatives in the form of public policy papers.

Khyun said organizers were keen to involve organizations, unions, activists and figures in planning and drafting conference sessions, as well as holding live dialogue tables with government and responsible legislators.

He stressed that the unemployment file had a wide scope in the work of the conference, as a top priority, with a focus on supporting entrepreneurship, developing vocational education and activating public-private partnerships.
