Start the Council of Representatives session... and mediate between peace and oblivion.
The legislative session scheduled for 11 p.m. started at Council of Representatives.
The legislative session scheduled for 11 p.m. started at Council of Representatives.
Members of parliament have been gathering since the morning, and Prime Minister Nawaf Salam has arrived to participate in the session, following widespread protests around Council of Representatives.
As soon as the session began, press reports reported that there had been a row and screaming between Prime Minister Nawaf Salaam and Defense Minister Michel Manassé ahead of the session about the general amnesty file.
According to the information, some MPs consider the protests in conjunction with the session suspicious, especially that the objection to the public sector's salary cuts is a decision made by the government and not the parliament, so why is this protest in conjunction with a sensitive session and what are the goals?
MP Nabil Badr said the proposal to abolish the death penalty would go smoothly, while the general amnesty file was still under discussion. He explained that he was in contact with the "Lebanese forces" and made a proposal he believed had been accepted.
Badr pointed out that the agreement is based on the separation of legislative proposals and the process towards their adoption, in coordination between the Senate and the Democratic Meeting and the relevant bloc.
