Prime Minister calls on Macron to visit Iraq and work together to build a sustainable partnership

Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi, on Saturday, invited French President Emmanuel Macron to visit Iraq.

The Prime Minister's Press Office said in a statement received by Iraq News that the Prime Minister discussed, on Saturday, during a telephone call with French President Emmanuel Macron, the bilateral relations between Iraq and France and ways to develop them and strengthen joint cooperation in various fields.

He added that the communication addressed a number of files and issues of common interest, most notably economic and investment cooperation at Iraq, opportunities for French companies, as well as developments in the situation in the region, and joint efforts to reduce tension and strengthen security and stability.

Highlighting the importance of Iraq-French relations, the Prime Minister called on President Macron to visit Iraq, and to work together to build a sustainable economic and investment partnership between the two countries, achieving their common interests.

The Prime Minister stressed: "The Government will continue to work to promote stability and transform Iraq into an influential economic and political force in the region, with its wealth and an important and influential position linking international trade lines".

He stressed the urgency of Iraq to build balanced relations with neighbouring countries, not to allow the use of Iraq land to threaten its security, and stressed the protection of the security of Iraq, its sovereignty and the interests of its people, stressing the importance of engaging in dialogue on regional and international issues.
