I'm not a cover for corruption, a deputy who withdraws from the lion's den after the arrest warrant and declares no immunity to the law

In a recent political development, MP Ghaffar al-Shumari announced her withdrawal from the 'Sumerian' bloc, claimed by former Labour Minister Ahmed al-Assadi, confirmed her move to parliamentary work independently, and announced her refusal to have her name or location as a cover for any suspicion that touches public money.

Shamri said her decision came from the conviction that parliamentary work is sincere, affirming her political and moral rejection of anyone who proves the right to corruption cases under the law and the judiciary, and stressing that no immunity to the law, no friendship is above the national interest.

The decision to withdraw came on a politically sensitive day, after the abolition of the arrest warrant for Ahmed al-Assadi was announced against the backdrop of charges related to money laundering and the direct use of contracts and jobs in the Ministry of Labor, which are still on the judicial trail.

The escalation did not stop at al-Asadi; the judiciary also requested the Council of Representatives to lift the immunity of MP Nadhim al-Asadi in preparation for taking legal measures against him, over a file related to contracts for foreign labor and manpower and companies described as fictitious.

This comes after an earlier audio recording of Ahmed al-Assadi confirming his cooperation with the judiciary over alleged corruption files, pointing to the seizure of funds belonging to him, explaining that the case was related to the actions of one of his closest relatives while he was outside Iraq.

The political scene inside Sumerian is getting hotter; as the court files move, a deputy from the bloc chooses a declaration of political independence and raises the distance between her and any file that might put her name in the circle of suspicion.
