An Iraqi judge at the head of the Arab judiciary network, Baghdad, takes the lead of the Arab women's judiciary

Judge Iraqia Twitter Abd al-Majid was elected president of the Arab Judiciary Network, in a move to strengthen the presence of the IraqI judiciary in the Arab women's judicial cooperation system, months after the network was founded in the capital Baghdad.

Abdul Majid serves as the head of the Baghdad Commercial Court, along with the Iraq Association of Judges, to take over the leadership of the network, which took over from Baghdad as its permanent headquarters.

During the period from 12 to 14 February 2026, Baghdad hosted the network's founding meeting, with the participation of judges from a number of Arab countries, including Morocco, Qatar, Algeria, Yemen and Palestine, in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) the Regional Office of the Arab States.

The network was established with the aim of promoting cooperation and professional coordination between Arab judiciaries, supporting initiatives related to empowering women in the judiciary, and exchanging expertise and judicial experience between participating countries.

The election of an Iraqi judge to head the new network represents a prominent Iraqi presence in the Arab judicial scene, and gives Baghdad a pivotal role in the path of women's judicial cooperation that started from the capital Iraq.
